Mini unveiled the new electric model, the Aceman, on Wednesday, created in partnership with Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between Mini and Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors. The Aceman is a crossover model that bears a minimalist design and measures 160 inches long, fitting in between the 2025 Mini Cooper hatchback and the 2025 Mini Countryman crossover. This new model is smaller in size compared to other subcompact EVs confirmed for the U.S. market such as the 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric and the 2025 Volvo EX30.
The Aceman comes in two variants, the Aceman E and the Aceman SE, with different battery capacities and power outputs. The Aceman E features a 42.5-kwh battery pack and a front-mounted electric motor with 181 hp, while the Aceman SE has a 54.2-kwh pack and a 214-hp motor. The Aceman SE is capable of reaching 0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds, which is faster than the Aceman E.
In terms of range, the Aceman E is estimated to have a European WLTP range of 192 miles, while the Aceman SE can reach up to 252 miles. Both models can DC fast charge at high kilowatts, allowing for a quick 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes.
Currently, Mini has only had one electric model, the Cooper SE, but the Aceman joins the lineup as a new addition. While the Cooper and Countryman models are expected to be available as EVs in the U.S., there is still uncertainty regarding whether the Aceman will make its way to the American market.
In conclusion, the new Mini Aceman offers a compact and stylish electric option with different variants to suit varying preferences in power and range. The partnership with Great Wall Motors and the emphasis on minimalism in design make the Aceman a unique addition to Mini’s lineup.
