The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is back for the 2025 model year with some exciting updates. The electric van now offers a shorter 144-inch wheelbase option, a smaller 81-kwh battery, and a standard roof. These changes bring the base price down to $63,545, making it a more budget-friendly option for buyers. The eSprinter continues to be powered by a choice of 100-kw and 150-kw rear-mounted permanent magnet motors, both limited to 75 mph.
Payload Leader in the Lineup
The shorter-wheelbase, small-battery, small-motor, low-roof configuration of the 2025 eSprinter has become the payload leader in the lineup. It can carry up to 3,516 pounds, nearly 500 pounds more than the larger body style. However, the lower roof and shorter wheelbase do reduce the cargo space to 319 cubic feet, compared to 488 cubic feet in the larger version.
Range and Charging Capabilities
The smaller 81-kwh battery in the 2025 eSprinter results in a range of 192 miles on the European WLTP test cycle, down from 273 miles in the larger battery model. However, real-world U.S. driving performance with a light load is comparable to the larger battery model. The eSprinter features a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery chemistry and can DC fast charge at up to 115 kw, making it convenient for fleet use.
More Options for Fleet Buyers
With the addition of the shorter wheelbase and smaller battery option, fleet buyers now have more choices to tailor the eSprinter to their specific needs. While the eSprinter lineup focuses on commercial and fleet use, the upcoming Mercedes Van.EA platform in 2026 may cater to buyers looking for more luxurious private use vehicles. The new platform could offer features like dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, which the 2025 eSprinter lacks.
Enhanced Safety Features
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter comes with standard safety systems such as automatic emergency braking with intersection assist. A new Sideguard Assist system warns the driver of road users in the “danger area” on the passenger side. Another new feature is the Moving-off Information Assist system, which aims to prevent collisions when the driver starts moving, by detecting road users in front and to the sides.
Advanced Technology Features
For 2025, the eSprinter is equipped with a front camera for active lane control, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and a surround-view camera system. These features enhance the overall driving experience and safety of the eSprinter. The front camera enables active lane control, helping the driver stay within their lane and navigate traffic more effectively.
The 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter is now available for ordering and is expected to arrive in the second half of the year. With its new configurations, safety features, and technology enhancements, the eSprinter continues to be a versatile and capable option for fleet and commercial buyers.
