When browsing for a new car, the most desired feature on the list of many buyers isn’t a flashy sunroof or high-tech gadgets, but rather a simple wireless charging pad for phones. According to AutoPacific’s Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS), both front and rear phone charging pads are the top two most sought-after features in a new vehicle. Comfort and convenience features dominate the list of the 10 most wanted inclusions in a new car, with heated and ventilated seats coming in at number three.

The top two most wanted features in a new vehicle are wireless phone charging pads for both front and rear passengers. Easy accessibility and convenience drive the demand for these simple yet highly desired additions.
2. Heated and Ventilated Seats
Coming in third on the list is the inclusion of heated and ventilated seats, adding luxury and comfort to the driving experience. This feature is estimated to cost around $550, but many buyers see it as a worthwhile investment.
3. Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers
At number four, rain-sensing windshield wipers provide added safety and convenience for drivers. With an estimated cost of $75, this feature is a popular choice for many new car buyers.
4. Sunroof-Moonroof
A sunroof or moonroof comes in at number five on the list of most-wanted features, offering a touch of luxury and openness to the driving experience. This feature is estimated to cost around $800.
5. Driver Profile Setting
Driver profile settings allow for a customized driving experience, from seat adjustments to exterior light signatures. This feature has moved up in demand from 10th place in the previous year to the sixth most-wanted feature, showing a growing interest in personalized driving experiences.
In the annual study, more than 14,900 licensed drivers in the U.S. shared their preferences for features in new vehicles. The survey covered a wide range of items, including safety technologies, infotainment systems, and connectivity devices. Personalization and driver comfort are key priorities for many buyers, with demand for features like phone charging pads and driver profile settings on the rise.
