Porsche’s latest limited-edition 911, the 911 Turbo 50 Years, pays tribute to the original 911 Turbo unveiled in 1974. This special model follows in the footsteps of other unique editions like the 911 Sport Classic and the 911 Dakar, showcasing carefully-curated throwback styling cues both inside and out.
Throwback Styling Cues
The 911 Turbo 50 Years is based on the pre-facelift Turbo S model and features several unique styling details that set it apart from the standard Turbo S. These include vinyl decals on the sides, Anthracite Gray exterior accents, and a specific “Turbo 50” emblem on the engine cover. The model also introduces a new color called Turbonite, exclusive to Turbo models, and Turbonite-finished center-locking wheels for a distinctive look.
Interior Design
Inside, the 911 Turbo 50 Years boasts LED puddle lights that project the image of a turbocharger onto the ground, along with McKenzie tartan upholstery on the front and rear seats and door panels. Additional Turbonite accents can be found throughout the cabin, along with the “Turbo 50” logo on the headrests and dashboard to remind passengers they’re in a special edition model.
Optional Heritage Design Package
For buyers seeking even more retro details, Porsche offers the optional Heritage Design Package. This package includes Aventurine Green Metallic paint, white exterior graphics, 1964-style Porsche emblems inside and out, and additional tartan upholstery. Customers can also choose a color from the standard palette or request a special color through Porsche’s paint-to-sample program.
Performance and Limited Production
Mechanically, the 911 Turbo 50 Years is identical to the Turbo S, delivering 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque from a twin-turbocharged, 3.7-liter flat-six engine. It features an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution, and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.7 seconds. Porsche plans to produce only 1,974 units of this special edition model.
Pricing and Availability
While pricing for the 911 Turbo 50 Years has yet to be announced, it’s expected to reflect the exclusivity and unique features of this limited-edition model. In addition to the car, Porsche Design is also releasing a 911 Turbo 50 Years-themed watch, limited to 1,974 units, for enthusiasts who appreciate both fine timepieces and high-performance vehicles.
