2. Enhanced Rules and Methods
As part of the corrective measures, Toyota has introduced a range of new rules and methods to improve accountability during the certification process. The Legal Supervisor will oversee audits and report findings to the Chief Risk Officer, creating an added layer of defense to prevent future irregularities.

In a statement, Toyota acknowledged shortcomings within its management levels that contributed to the certification issues. The company has committed to addressing these failures and implementing changes to strengthen its certification operations. By enhancing its data management system and establishing clearer rules and procedures, Toyota aims to better detect and address irregularities promptly.

The irregularities in the certification process affected various models within the Toyota Group, including the Yaris Cross, Corolla Axio, and Corolla Fielder. Production of these models was temporarily halted, but it is expected to resume by September once the necessary corrective actions have been taken.
