Top rated RV types in 2024: New and Used models

Summer is a popular time for road trips, with many people opting to rent or buy an RV for their travels. RV Trader recently released its 2024 Data Yearbook, which analyzes the most popular RV categories for both new and used shoppers based on registration data from 2022 and 2023. The study found that used Class B motorhomes saw almost 10 percent growth during that time, with registrations continuing to rise in 2024.

Travel trailer
The most popular new and used RV categories include travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class C, Class B, and Class A motorhomes. Travel trailers are a versatile and affordable option for many road trippers, offering a comfortable living space with the convenience of being towed behind a vehicle.

Fifth wheel
Fifth wheels are another popular choice, known for their spacious interiors and easy maneuverability. These RVs are towed by a pickup truck using a specialized hitch, providing a stable and secure towing experience.

Class C
Class C motorhomes are a popular choice for those looking for a mid-sized RV with ample living space. These models often feature a bed over the cab, providing additional sleeping accommodations.

Class B
Class B motorhomes, the smallest RV option available, have seen significant growth in popularity in recent years. These compact vehicles offer all the amenities of a larger RV in a more manageable size, making them a popular choice for solo travelers or couples.

Class A
Class A motorhomes are the largest and most luxurious RVs on the market, with some models reaching up to 45 feet in length. These spacious vehicles offer a wide range of amenities and are often favored by more experienced RVers.

RV Trader’s study also highlighted trends among different age groups, with millennials showing a preference for travel trailers and camping trailers, while boomers tend to opt for larger Class A and Class C models. However, buyers aged 35-44 are becoming a significant portion of the RV market, indicating a shift in demographics. Overall, RVing remains a popular activity for individuals aged 55-64, with many choosing to explore the open road in their later years.
