This Volkswagen Car Seat Resembles a Jacket

Volkswagen’s ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice: A Tribute to Tradition

Volkswagen has a long-standing tradition of hosting GTI Meetings for fans of their sporty compact models. In an attempt to create a similar tradition for their fully electric ID.3 GTX, the automaker hosted the ID. Meeting in Locarno, Switzerland. This year, they showcased a one-off car, the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice, which pays tribute to the second-generation Golf Fire and Ice special edition.

Unique Design Inspired by the Past

The ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice features a triple-layer paint finish with special glass beads, reminiscent of the Golf Fire and Ice from the 1990s. The front seats of the electric hatchback have built-in jackets, which can be unzipped to reveal a different upholstery, similar to the fabric used in the original special edition. The interior is adorned with fire and ice logos on the pedals and a combination of red and blue accents throughout. Although the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice is a unique creation, there are no plans for a limited production run.

Future of the ID.3 and Golf Models

Volkswagen is hinting at replacing the ID.3 with a fully electric Golf Mk9, as the company believes there is not enough market demand for multiple electric models. While the next-generation Golf is set to arrive by the end of the decade, the current gas model may continue to be sold until 2035. This could lead to a period where Volkswagen offers both electric and gas versions of the Golf concurrently.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the ID.3 GTX Fire+Ice showcases Volkswagen’s commitment to honoring their past traditions while embracing the future of electric mobility. With the potential introduction of a fully electric Golf in the future, Volkswagen is looking ahead to meet the evolving demands of the automotive market. As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electrification, Volkswagen’s innovative approach to design and technology will play a key role in shaping the future of mobility.
