The Audi S3 Surpasses the Golf R in Power

When Volkswagen launched the Golf R with more power than its Audi S3 counterpart, it left many wondering why the less expensive car had more horsepower. However, the 2025 Audi S3 has now received a mid-cycle facelift, giving it more power and torque than the Golf R. The new S3 features an upgraded turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine, producing 328 horsepower and approximately 310 pound-feet of torque. This increase in power makes the S3 more potent than the Golf R, which currently has 315 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. With these enhancements, Audi aims to provide an exhilarating driving experience for enthusiasts.

**Improved Performance and Handling**

A significant upgrade in the 2025 Audi S3 is the implementation of the RS3’s rear torque splitter technology, allowing for fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels. This feature, combined with the new Dynamic Plus mode, enables the S3 to send maximum torque to the rear axle, enhancing the car’s agility and providing a more tail-happy driving experience. While Audi does not officially refer to this as a drift mode, the S3 is known to exhibit oversteer tendencies when operating in its sportiest settings. Additionally, the new S3 boasts improved off-the-line performance, with the 2.0 TFSI engine idling at 1,300 rpm for quicker acceleration. The throttle response has been further refined, and the gear ratios have been adjusted for enhanced power availability during acceleration. With these enhancements, the S3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, outperforming its predecessor.

**Visual Enhancements and Styling Updates**

The exterior of the 2025 Audi S3 has undergone subtle styling modifications to align it with the brand’s latest design language. The S3 now features customizable LED daytime running lights, allowing drivers to select from four different designs through the infotainment system. The taillights also showcase a unique animation when locking or unlocking the vehicle. Additionally, four new exterior colors have been added to the palette, giving customers more options to personalize their S3. Inside the cabin, ambient lighting is included as a standard feature in the United States, while the flat-bottomed steering wheel is available as an optional extra. Unlike the Golf R, the S3 retains physical buttons below the 10.1-inch touchscreen, ensuring ease of use for various functions. LED contour lighting has been integrated into the center console and cup holders, while the front doors feature a new laser-cut fabric panel that is backlit for a premium touch.

**Availability and Pricing**

In the United States, the 2025 Audi S3 will only be offered in the four-door sedan configuration, while the five-door Sportback variant will be available in Europe. Audi has yet to disclose pricing details for the updated model, but the previous generation had a starting price of $48,495, including the destination charge. Despite not being available in America, images of the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback have been released, showcasing the updated design and features that European customers can expect. By enhancing performance, handling, and visual aesthetics, Audi aims to solidify the S3’s position as a top contender in the compact sports sedan segment.
