Tesla Issues Recall for Cybertruck Models Due to Wiper Motor Issues

Tesla’s Cybertruck Recalled Due to Faulty Windshield Wiper

Tesla has issued a recall for its Cybertruck due to issues with the windshield wiper motor. The faulty motor may prevent the wiper blade from functioning properly, posing a problem for drivers in rainy conditions. The recall affects 11,688 electric pickups manufactured between November 13, 2023, and June 6, 2024. While Tesla believes only a small percentage of trucks are affected, they are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of their customers.

Discovery of the Issue and Response

The automaker first became aware of the potential problem in early February when Tesla Service reported wiper motor failures on certain Cybertrucks. After recovering 20 motors for analysis, Tesla engineers identified the root cause of the issue. They found that an excessive current during a functional test at a Tier 2 supplier had damaged the motor’s circuit board. While there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to this defect, Tesla is taking proactive steps to address the issue.

Free Wiper Motor Replacement and Bed Trim Inspection

Tesla has assured customers that they will replace the faulty wiper motor at no cost to them. In addition to the motor replacement, many trucks will also undergo an inspection for their exterior bed trim. The sail appliqué along the bedside may not have been installed correctly, which could lead to it becoming loose or separating from the vehicle. This second recall affects 11,383 Cybertrucks built from November 13, 2023, until May 26, 2024. Tesla will either replace or rework the parts to ensure they meet the correct specifications.

Ensuring Customer Safety and Satisfaction

While the recall may inconvenience affected Cybertruck owners, Tesla’s top priority is to ensure the safety and satisfaction of their customers. By acknowledging and addressing these issues promptly, the automaker is demonstrating its commitment to quality and reliability. Customers can have peace of mind knowing that Tesla is taking proactive measures to rectify any potential defects and uphold their reputation for innovation and excellence.
