Rumor: The 2025 GMC Sierra EV Expected to Come Standard with a Smaller 170-kWh Battery Pack

The 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 pickup, with rumors of a 204-kWh battery pack, has raised excitement among consumers. Joining it in 2025 is the GMC Sierra EV, which will feature a second battery option, the 170-kWh pack, for lower trims. With new trims like AT4 and Elevation being introduced for next year, along with exciting features like four-wheel steering and Super Cruise, GMC is upping the ante in the electric pickup truck market. The addition of new color options, such as Deep Ocean Metallic and Summit White, will give consumers more variety when choosing their Sierra EV model.

The Mystery of the Battery Capacity:
Despite the hype surrounding the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 pickup, specific figures for the battery capacity have yet to be released by GMC. There is speculation that this information might only be revealed to customers after they have placed a deposit for the vehicle. The 204-kWh pack found in the 2024 truck is said to be the same one used in the GMC Hummer EV, which received an estimated range rating of 440 miles in April. For 2025, the Sierra EV will offer a smaller 170-kWh pack for lower trims, promising a range of around 380 to 390 miles. With the first batch of 2025 trucks expected to roll off the production line in early September, more details about the battery capacity should be disclosed soon.

Introduction of New Trims:
In addition to the Denali trim, GMC will be introducing new trims like AT4 and Elevation for the 2025 Sierra EV lineup. The AT4 trim will come equipped with features like four-wheel steering, CrabWalk, and a DC fast charge upgrade to 350-kW. It will also offer perks like Super Cruise and a spray-on bedliner, making it an ideal choice for off-road enthusiasts. The Elevation trim, typically found at a lower price point in GMC’s vehicle lineups, will come with a power-operated frunk and the MultiPro tailgate. Both trims are expected to hit dealerships early next year, giving consumers more options to choose from in the electric pickup truck market.

Enhanced Features and Options:
The Denali trim of the 2025 Sierra EV will come standard with advanced tech features like Super Cruise and the MultiPro MidGate. It will also sit on 24-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch rubber, giving it a bold and rugged look. Optional features for all trims include the 10.2-kW Power Station Pro, spray-on bedliner, and a fast charge upgrade. With these innovative features and customization options, consumers will have the opportunity to tailor their Sierra EV to suit their individual needs and preferences.

Expanding Color Palette:
In addition to the new trims and features offered in the 2025 Sierra EV lineup, GMC is also expanding the color palette for their electric pickup truck. Currently available in Thunderstorm Gray, the Sierra EV will soon be offered in colors like Deep Ember Tintcoat, Moonlight Matte, Onyx Black, and Summit White. This expansion of color options will give consumers more freedom to personalize their Sierra EV and make it stand out on the road.
