Rimac Celebrates 15 Years in Business with Special Edition Nevera
Rimac, the Croatian automaker, is commemorating its 15th year in business with a special-edition Nevera. The company announced that it will produce nine Nevera 15th Anniversary Edition cars, each priced at €2.35 million ($2.54 million). The first car will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will tackle the iconic hill climb. The anniversary edition comes with all available options and a bespoke luggage set. It features a unique design with exposed gloss carbon fiber on the bottom half and a new copper color on top with a matte finish. The color is also used to accent the wheels, with “15” year anniversary badging on the doors and a circuit board-like pattern running throughout the car.
Inside the car, the copper theme continues with anodized switchgear and accents. Customers have the option to finish the cabin and seats in either black or white. The number “15” is embossed on the copper headrests and door cards, along with the car’s production number and the years “2009-2024” between the seats. While there are no reported powertrain upgrades, the special edition is expected to have the same specifications as the standard Nevera, with 1,914 horsepower and 1,740 pound-feet of torque, a 0-60 mph time of 1.75 seconds, and a top speed of 258 mph.
Rimac’s Journey from Converting Cars to Building Supercars
Rimac’s founder, Mate Rimac, started his business by converting his 1984 BMW E30 3 Series into an electric car back in 2009. Since then, the company has come a long way, developing potent, all-electric supercars. The Concept_One was revealed in 2011 and started deliveries to customers five years later. The C_Two, which previewed the current Nevera model, debuted in 2018. Rimac’s merger with Bugatti in 2021 led to the creation of Bugatti-Rimac and the release of the Tourbillon. Additionally, Rimac’s battery technology will power future BMW Group models in the coming years, following an agreement earlier this year.
The Future of Rimac Beyond the Nevera
Looking ahead, it’s uncertain what lies in store for Rimac after the Nevera. Mate Rimac has acknowledged the changing preferences of high-end buyers who are increasingly turning away from electric vehicles. While Rimac initially focused on electric cars, the company has already begun developing combustion engine technology, hinting at a possible shift in its future direction. With projects like the Verne autonomous robotaxi in development, Rimac is poised to make further advancements in the automotive industry in the years to come.
