Optional Performance Package Available for Ford Mustang GTD

The Ford Mustang GT3 is the Ultimate Performance Machine

The Ford Mustang is headed to Le Mans in GT3 racing trim, and Ford has revealed new information about the street-legal version of the Mustang GTD. The new GTD options include a Performance pack, a Lightweight pack, and a special Carbon Series. These options focus on weight reduction and aerodynamics to enhance the car’s performance on the track.

**Performance Pack for Ultimate Performance**
The Performance pack for the Mustang GTD includes upgrades focused on weight reduction and aerodynamics. The front fascia features dive planes and a large splitter, while a drag reduction system is added to the massive rear wing. Underbody flaps are also included in the package, along with a Lightweight pack that removes sound deadening to reduce weight. The Performance pack is essential for the GTD to achieve a sub-seven-minute lap at the Nurburgring, according to Mustang GTD Chief Engineer Greg Goodall.

**Special Carbon Series**

Ford will offer the GTD in a special Carbon Series that features an unpainted carbon fiber body on the hood, roof, and portions of the decklid. The wheels feature a Magnetite finish, whether aluminum or magnesium. The Carbon Series can be paired with one of six standard exterior colors, including a new shade called Chroma Flame. The Carbon Series enhances the aggressive and sporty look of the Mustang GTD.

**Interior Styling and Features**
Inside the GTD, things look very Mustang with the integration of a 13.2-inch and 12.4-inch screens, as seen on Premium trims. Standard Recaro seats, special graphics for the displays, titanium shift paddles, and a GTD-specific steering wheel are included. The GTD also features two new buttons on the center console, one for various Track Apps and the other to activate the front-axle lift feature. A clear window in the back allows for viewing the pushrod suspension in action.

**Production and Pricing**
Ford plans to produce the GTD for a two-year run, with estimates suggesting around 1,400 units will be produced. The pricing is estimated to be no less than $325,000, making it a high-end and exclusive offering. Despite the hefty price tag, Ford has already received over 7,500 applications from interested buyers in the US and Canada. The production process for buyers in Europe is about to begin, further adding to the exclusivity of the Mustang GTD.

In conclusion, the Ford Mustang GTD is the ultimate performance machine that combines track-ready features with street-legal capabilities. With options like the Performance pack, Lightweight pack, and special Carbon Series, the Mustang GTD offers a unique driving experience for enthusiasts. The combination of aerodynamics, weight reduction, and high-performance features make the GTD a standout in the sports car world. Ford’s commitment to excellence and performance shines through in the Mustang GTD, making it a must-have for those seeking the ultimate driving experience.
