More Electric Vehicles and Less EQs in Mercedes-Benz’s Future

Introduction: The future of Mercedes-Benz is electric, with the company shifting towards producing more battery-electric vehicles across its lineup. Changes are expected in various aspects of the brand, including the introduction of new platforms and the elimination of the EQ subbrand. This article will explore how these changes will impact Mercedes-Benz and its subbrands.

New Platforms and Elimination of EQ:
Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce new platforms, such as the MMA platform and the EA architecture, to underpin more attainable vehicles. The next-gen CLA-class and C-class will ride on these platforms, offering both gas-powered and battery-electric versions. Additionally, the flagship-worthy MB.EA-L platform will be used for the replacement of the S-class and EQS models, while an electric SL is expected in 2028. The company plans to gradually phase out its EQ-badged electric vehicles as the shift to electric vehicles becomes more widespread.

More Mercedes Models:
Mercedes-AMG is planning to release four high-performance EVs on the AMG.EA chassis, with the first one expected in 2026. These models will feature specially developed battery packs and electric drive motors, drawing inspiration from the Vision AMG concept. Mercedes-Maybach will also introduce new models with greater design differentiation to enhance their luxury appeal. The subbrand’s “Myth” and “Legends” vehicles will target higher price points, prestige, and exclusivity.

AMG and Maybach Future:
As the automotive industry continues to evolve towards electric vehicles, Mercedes-AMG and Maybach are adapting to meet the changing landscape. AMG will focus on developing high-performance EVs that offer a balance of power and sustainability, while Maybach will enhance its luxury offerings with unique design elements. The future of these subbrands reflects Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to innovation and excellence in the EV market.
