Koenigsegg’s Calculations Suggest the Jesko is Capable of Exceeding 311 MPH

Koenigsegg, a renowned Swedish hypercar manufacturer, has recently made headlines with the unveiling of the one-of-a-kind Chimera. However, the company is not neglecting an old promise it made about the Jesko model. While a top-speed run for the Jesko Absolut has yet to happen, recent tests on a chassis dyno have revealed promising results. Christian von Koenigsegg, the man behind the brand, disclosed that the car surpassed 311 mph before hitting the rev limiter in ninth gear. This indicates that there is even more speed potential waiting to be unlocked in the Jesko Absolut.

Challenges to Conducting a Top-Speed Run

Despite the impressive performance results in the chassis dyno tests, Koenigsegg has not yet conducted a top-speed run with an actual car. The main reasons for this delay are finding the right tires for the vehicle and identifying an empty stretch of road long enough for the Jesko Absolut to reach its full potential. Christian von Koenigsegg expressed his hopes that the top-speed run will happen soon, although no specific timeline was provided.

The Promise of the Jesko Absolut

When the Jesko Absolut made its debut in March 2020, Koenigsegg claimed that it would be the fastest car the brand has ever produced. The company set its sights on breaking the 300-mph barrier, potentially surpassing the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport’s record of 304.77 mph. Despite not having tested its maximum capabilities yet, the Jesko Absolut holds several records, including being the fastest production car to 250 mph and 400 km/h. Additionally, it has set records in the 0-250-0 mph and 0-400-0 km/h tests.

Potential Venue for the Top-Speed Run

Christian von Koenigsegg hinted that the Jesko Absolut’s top-speed run could take place on a closed-off section of a public road, potentially on the Autobahn in Germany. The Autobahn has previously hosted high-speed runs, including a couple of 257-mph runs with the Bugatti Chiron. However, surpassing 300 mph poses a greater challenge, and Koenigsegg would need permission from German authorities to have a section of the Autobahn all to itself.

Previous High-Speed Achievements

It’s worth noting that Koenigsegg has a history of achieving impressive speeds. In 2017, the Agera RS reached 285 mph on a public road, while the Bugatti Chiron SS hit 304.77 mph in 2019 at the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. However, the latter record was not certified by Guinness since it was performed in a single direction. These achievements demonstrate Koenigsegg’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of speed and performance in the hypercar market.
