Dodge Teases New Charger Pursuit Model for Law Enforcement Use
Dodge has released the first official picture of the new Charger Pursuit model that will soon be hitting the streets as a law enforcement vehicle. While billed as a concept, it is expected that this model will soon be patrolling speed trap towns all over.
The teaser image posted on Instagram gives a glimpse of the new Charger Pursuit model, keeping most of its styling features under wraps. It is speculated that this model could be the electric version, although it is possible that there will also be a straight-six-powered variant available. The Pursuit model is expected to be based on the four-door version of the Charger to accommodate police use.
In addition to the expected white and black livery, the most notable visual difference between the Pursuit and the regular Charger will be the roof-mounted light bar. Dodge is likely to make a number of other modifications to the sedan to prepare it for law enforcement use, similar to the changes seen in the outgoing Charger Pursuit model. These modifications could include heavy-duty brakes, police-specific front seats, and other equipment tailored for police duty.
While there are no major mechanical changes anticipated for the Charger Pursuit, the electric model is expected to offer impressive performance figures. The R/T trim provides 456 horsepower, while the Scat Pack trim offers 590 horsepower. Additionally, there are several upgrade packages available to further enhance the vehicle’s performance. The gasoline-powered Sixpack model features a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine with varying horsepower levels depending on the trim level. Both models come equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
As more information is expected to be released in the coming months, law enforcement agencies and speeders alike will be eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Dodge Charger Pursuit model.
