The Littlest Bronco Gets a Big Upgrade with Sasquatch Package
Ford recently teased the upcoming release of a Sasquatch off-road package for the smaller Bronco Sport with an Instagram post featuring a mud-caked SUV and a hairy arm writing out “8/26.” The package is expected to bring some significant off-roading enhancements to the small SUV.
Sasquatch Package Upgrades for Off-Roading
In the full-size Bronco, the Sasquatch package includes front and rear locking differentials, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, more off-road-ready Bilstein shocks, and larger fender flares to accommodate the big tires. It remains to be seen if the same upgrades will be offered on the Bronco Sport, but spy photos suggest there may be some changes in the formula for the smaller SUV.
Spy Photos Hint at Toughened Bronco Sport
A Bronco Sport prototype featuring additional metal armor on the bumpers and a significant suspension lift was spotted back in May. While the tire size remains similar to the Badlands trim, the tires seem to have a more aggressive tread pattern and compound to support off-roading activities. It is likely that the Sasquatch package will be limited to the Badlands trim only.
Expected Enhancements with the Sasquatch Package
In addition to the existing twin-clutch torque-vectoring rear differential on the Badlands trim, the Sasquatch package may introduce updated drive modes and potentially an upgraded front differential, such as a mechanical limited-slip unit. However, these enhancements are expected to come at an extra cost, potentially making the mini Sasquatch a pricey upgrade for the already premium Badlands trim.
