Bugatti Introduces Naturally Aspirated V-16 Engine with Extended Length

Bugatti is phasing out the W-16 engine in favor of a new V-16 for the Chiron’s successor. The new hypercar, set to be revealed in June, will have a massive powertrain without forced induction. Bugatti-Rimac CEO Mate Rimac shared details at the Future of the Car Summit conference in London, revealing that the V-16 engine will skip turbocharging and feature hybridization.

Dimensions and Power Output

The new V-16 engine will measure 39.3 inches long, making it significantly longer than the outgoing W-16. Reports suggest the engine has an 8.3-liter displacement, revving up to 9,000 rpm and capable of producing around 1,800 horsepower when combined with three electric motors. The combustion engine alone is expected to output approximately 1,000 hp, with two of the electric motors driving the front wheels and the third powering the rear axle.

Performance and Specs

It is rumored that the Bugatti Chiron replacement will be able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in about two seconds and reach 124 mph in under five seconds. From 0 to 186 mph, it could take less than ten seconds, with a potential 0-249 mph sprint in under 25 seconds. The top speed is electronically capped at 277 mph, and production is said to be limited to just 250 units.

Release Date and Pricing

While the new hypercar is set to be unveiled in June, deliveries to customers are not expected to begin until 2026. The estimated price for the hypercar is at least €3.6 million, or $3.86 million at current exchange rates. This new hypercar marks a significant departure from Bugatti’s previous models and is highly anticipated in the automotive world.

With a new V-16 engine and impressive performance figures, Bugatti’s successor to the Chiron is shaping up to be a groundbreaking hypercar that will push the boundaries of automotive engineering. Stay tuned for more details as the official reveal date approaches.
