Zeekr recently announced that their new batteries, debuting in the 007 electric sedan, can support charging rates that are unmatched by most other EVs on the market. These batteries are capable of charging the vehicle from 10% to 80% in as little as 10.5 minutes at normal temperatures. Even in colder conditions, with temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit, Zeekr claims that a 10%-80% charge can still be achieved in just 30 minutes, thanks to their enhanced battery management system.

The Zeekr 007 sedan is the first model to feature these new batteries and take advantage of the fastest charging rates offered by Zeekr. These vehicles are all part of the relatively new brand from Chinese automotive conglomerate Geely, which is also the parent company of Volvo, Polestar, and Lotus.

Zeekr attributes the impressive charging performance of their new batteries to the use of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry. This type of battery chemistry is commonly used in China and is gaining popularity among U.S. automakers as well, including Tesla and Ford. Zeekr claims that by using optimized materials and upgraded technology, they were able to achieve the fast charging rates that set their batteries apart.
### Buildout of Charging Infrastructure
In order to support the fast charging capabilities of their new batteries, Zeekr has invested in building out a network of high-power charging stations. The company has already opened 500 fast-charging stations in China that support 800-volt charging, with over 2,700 individual connectors. Zeekr plans to expand this network to over 1,000 charging stations this year and aims to have over 10,000 connectors in operation by 2026.
