With the help of Oshcut, the kart’s sponsor, new tubes were designed and installed to eliminate the suspension system and improve the overall performance of the kart.

By modeling up some tubes in CAD and ordering them from Oshcut, the wheels were effectively mounted directly to the chassis, eliminating the need for a traditional suspension system. The lasered tubes provided by Oshcut were precisely as specified in CAD, making installation a breeze and improving the kart’s overall performance.
The steering system of the kart was reinforced to accommodate the weight of the hub motors. By doubling the thickness of the tie rods and adding beef to the uprights and mounting positions, the new steering system is now robust and rigid. The bent sheet metal parts provided by Oshcut were instrumental in strengthening the steering system, ensuring durability and stability during operation.
The electric drivetrain of the kart is the highlight of the project, offering impressive power and performance. The hub motors are rated for continuous output, with the potential for burst power that can make the kart incredibly fast. Despite wiring cleanliness concerns, the quad motor setup allows for a peak output of 26.8 horsepower, providing a thrilling driving experience. The weight of the drivetrain adds complexity to the kart but contributes to its powerful and massive feel on the road.

The dynamics of the kart are impressive even without suspension, and the decision not to add more battery to increase power is based on preserving the current state of the kart’s dynamics and avoiding additional weight. The upcoming focus will be on unlocking the full power of the rear-wheel-drive configuration and eventually transitioning to an all-wheel-drive battery for even more excitement and performance.
