Volkswagen to Unveil its High-Performance ID.Buzz GTX on March 21

As we step further into the era of electric mobility, automobile manufacturers around the globe are racing to diversify their electric vehicle (EV) offerings. Volkswagen, a giant in this arena, recently announced its intention to reveal an all-new performance vehicle. Titled as the ID.Buzz GTX, this upcoming model seems to promise an exciting blend of high performance and zero emissions. With a teaser image subtly showcasing its uber-cool headlight design, the auto world is anticipating a fresh, sporty look and feel to be ushered in by Volkswagen.

The Announcement of the New ID.Buzz GTX

Volkswagen stirred up the auto industry on Friday by announcing plans to reveal a new performance vehicle during its annual press conference on March 21. The company shared a teaser image on LinkedIn that displayed the headlight silhouette of the ID.Buzz electric van. This indicates that the much-anticipated high-performance version of VW’s popular people-mover is just around the corner.

The ID.Buzz GTX in the Sporty EV Lineup

Volkswagen has confirmed that the ID.Buzz GTX will enter production at the beginning of 2023. This sporty EV joins the ranks of the ID.3 GTX and the ID.7 GTX Tourer, crowning VW’s diverse lineup of high-performance, zero-emissions vehicles.

Specifications and Performance Expectations

While Volkswagen has stayed tight-lipped about specific details regarding the ID.Buzz GTX, they shared that the GTX model would pack a punch with 335 horsepower, owing to a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. This mirrors the output of the already released ID.7 GTX. Other anticipated enhancements include a stiffer suspension for better handling, improved brakes for safe and secure rides, larger wheels for greater stability, and a sportier interior design for a thrilling in-car experience.

The ID.Buzz GTX’s Journey so Far

The ID.Buzz GTX has captured our attention for several months now. Last summer, industry insiders spotted an all-white test mule on the road, said to be a prototype of the much-anticipated vehicle. Not long after that, the car was seen making laps around the Nürburgring during a test pool session, cementing its place in the high-performance EV category.

ID.Buzz GTX’s Future in the United States

As of now, it is unclear whether Volkswagen intends to bring the high-performance ID.Buzz variant to the United States. The ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX tourer are not on the cards for the US market, and the regular ID.Buzz is yet to go on sale in the country. Furthermore, it is uncertain whether Volkswagen’s electric GTI will get a ‘green light’ for the American market. Considering the wavering demand for electric vehicles, a sporty EV van seems like an extremely niche product that may not generate the demand Volkswagen expects. However, the enthusiasm for a test drive of this model remains high amongst EV enthusiasts.
